IAPS
News:
Were you there.......
at the International Association of Pastel Societies convention in Raleigh-Durham,
North Carolina??!!
If you were there, you know wht a great time was had by all attendees.
The demonstrations,
lectures, workshops, exhibitions, and trade show were all very well
done.
The excitement of meeting many of the artist/demonstrators that you
read about in the art magazines,
as well as meeting so many of the attendees who are all willing to share
their ideas, techniques, and
expertise, make a four-day convention pass very quickly.
When you arrive back home, it takes awhile to re-read yur notes and
absorb all that you have learned
and experienced. Most people go home with renewed inspiration and are
hoping to get started on
some very exciting, new work.
If you were not at this convention, make a note in the "future"
part of your calendar to plan on attending
the next one inm Albuquerque, New Mexico in 2007. Two previous conventions
have been held
in Albuquerque,k and it is always a wonderful place to be. Many people
either arrive a few days before
or stay a few days after, to experience the surrounding areas as well,
such as Santa Fe, Taos, or maybe
Ghost Ranch.
Talk to other members in your society who did attend this convention
in North Carolina, or who have
attended others in the past. I am sure that they will tell you it is
a worthwhile experience.
The President's dinner was a wonderful way to meet your President or
a representative from your
Society. This meeting is designed to hear your thoughts, or perhaps
issues that you feel need to be
addressed. Some of the comments in the past have included questions
regarding lack of communication
from IAPS to your Society. We hope to correct that by memos, such as
this one, periodically. Also,
please remember to visit the IAPS website at www.pastelinternational.com.
Here you can find upcoming
events from various societies, examples of pastel work from these Societies,
important announcements,
concerning the IAPS exhibitions, listing of officers, etc., that may
be able to help you with any of your
questions, and more. This website is there for you. Please use it.
We need to hear from you also. If you have questions, concerns, ideas,
etc., please contact the
director or chairperson listed who is knowledgeable about your topic
of concern. If it is not the
correct person, you would be referred to someone else who will be ab
le to assist you.
You are important to us. Stay in touch. We will try to do the same.
The best of the weather is coming up so "Get out there" and
Produce some great work!!
Sincerely,
Sandra Jackoboice, Membership Chair
